Hello!
My name is Laura. I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist based in East and North London. I offer one-to-one psychological therapy for a broad range of difficulties. I practice both online and in-person.
I hold a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, MSc in Health Psychology, and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I am a registered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). I adhere to and practice according to the ethical and good practice guidance of the BPS and HCPC.
I have extensive experience working with adults in a range of community settings, including IAPT, an NHS primary care service. In particular, I have worked with individuals experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, bereavement, addiction, relationship issues, domestic violence and work stress. My clinical work has involved working with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
Before my doctorate training, I worked for eight years in the homeless sector. During this time, I developed an interest in working with individuals who struggle with addictions. This experience led me to carry out my doctoral research into CBT for alcohol use problems.
My Therapeutic Approach
Every client is unique and requires different things from therapy. Therefore, my therapeutic practice is tailored to meet your needs, creating a unique relationship and therapeutic experience.
At the heart of my practice, I prioritise building a warm, trusting and non-judgemental relationship as a strong foundation for you to feel safe to explore in-depth your most difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences.
In tailoring my work to your needs, I draw on a range of theories, techniques and evidence-based practice. I have training and experience in humanistic, existential, cognitive behavioural (CBT), compassion-focused (CFT) and psychodynamic approaches. Whichever approach we take, it is important for therapy to be useful and helpful to you.
